Job Description
Company Overview Join our dynamic team at Cardiology and Vascular Associates (CAVA)—one of Michigan's leading cardiology practices. Founded in 2000, CAVA proudly delivers top-tier cardiovascular care across 3 office locations and multiple area hospitals through a dedicated team of 10 board-certified cardiologists and a team of highly skilled mid-level providers. Position Summary As a Medical Scribe, your core responsibility will be to accompany the physician during patient consultations, accurately document the details of the encounter in real time. You will be responsible for creating comprehensive physician notes (such as H&P or Progress Notes), which will become part of the patient's permanent medical record. These notes will reflect the patient's clinical journey and the care provided, ensuring that all documentation is precise and compliant with HIPAA regulations. In this role, you'll directly interact with the EMR system (Next Gen), and will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate, up-to-date medical records. Should any discrepancies arise in the documentation, you'll be expected to promptly communicate with the physician for necessary revisions, ensuring the integrity of the patient's record.
Key Responsibilities:
Accompany physicians during patient visits, documenting patient interactions in real-time. Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant documentation in the Next Gen EHR system. Prepare and finalize physician notes, including H&Ps and Progress Notes, as part of the patient's permanent medical record. Real-Time Clinical Documentation Abstracting charts with past medical history, lab work, and prior imaging before visits Assisting with coding requirements (such as ICD and CPT codes) and billing data Entering provider-directed orders for medications, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging Communicating follow-up instructions and lifestyle changes to patients as directed Faxing records or coordinating referrals with primary care doctors and other staff Proactively address discrepancies in documentation by collaborating with the physician to make necessary revisions. Contribute to a collaborative and efficient work environment, supporting patient care and assisting colleagues when needed.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of scribe experience required.
Education:
High School Diploma required. Scribe educational program preferred. Strong knowledge of cardiology, anatomy and terminology required. Strong knowledge of pharmacology medication management required.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in EHR systems, particularly Next Gen, and comfortable with computers.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Adaptability:
Willingness to travel to various office locations as mandated (Bloomfield Hills, Clarkston & Commerce locations).
Team Player:
Ability to work in a high-volume environment and multi-task when necessary, all while providing exceptional support to the clinical team.

Physicians Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity to perform clinical procedures. Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

From $20.00 per hour
