Medication Technician/Caregiver

Job Description

Job Summary The Medication Technician is responsible for providing routine and emergency healthcare services to residents in an Assisted Living Facility (ALF). This includes administering medications, maintaining accurate health records, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The Medication Technician plays a vital role in promoting the well-being and safety of residents while fostering a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities
    Medication Management:
    ○ Administer prescribed medications to residents following proper protocols and documentation requirements. ○ Monitor residents for medication side effects and report concerns to the nursing staff or physician. ○ Maintain an accurate Medication Administration Record (MAR).
      Resident Care:
      ○ Assist with daily living activities, such as hygiene, mobility, and feeding, as needed. ○ Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care until advanced medical personnel arrive.
        Recordkeeping & Compliance:
        ○ Maintain up-to-date health records for residents, including medication logs and incident reports. ○ Adhere to all state regulations, facility policies, and HIPAA standards.
          Collaboration:
          ○ Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team regarding changes in residents' health conditions. ○ Participate in care plan meetings and provide input on resident care needs.
            Training & Education:
            ○ Stay updated on best practices for medication administration and emergency response procedures. ○ Participate in ongoing training sessions and staff meetings. Qualifications
              Education:
              ○ High school diploma or equivalent required. ○ Certification as a Medication Technician or Medication Aide (as required by state regulations).
                Experience:
                ○ Previous experience in assisted living, healthcare, or a similar setting preferred. ○ Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is a plus.
                  Skills:
                  ○ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. ○ Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. ○ Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations. Physical Requirements
                  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
                  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
                  • Capacity to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed. Work Environment
                  • Operates within a fast-paced healthcare setting.
                  • May encounter exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, or unpleasant conditions.
                  Pay:
                  $15.00 per hour
