Medication Technician

Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist in the administration of medications and provide essential support to residents or patients across various care settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, and home care environments. Your expertise will help ensure safe, accurate medication delivery while fostering a caring environment that promotes dignity and well-being. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring specialized medication management and personal care. Responsibilities Administer prescribed medications accurately according to physician orders, following all safety protocols and HIPAA regulations. Monitor and document vital signs, patient responses, and any adverse reactions during medication administration. Maintain detailed medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Assist with activities of daily living, including catheter care, tube feeding, and other personal hygiene tasks tailored to individual needs. Support patients with memory care needs, including those with Alzheimer's disease or dementia, by providing compassionate assistance and engaging activities. Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care in various settings such as senior care facilities or home environments. Follow all medical documentation standards and ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations while handling sensitive medical records. Requirements Prior experience working in assisted living communities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and medication administration procedures is essential. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes. Experience with specialized care such as hospice, memory care, Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. Ability to accurately measure vital signs and perform catheter care or tube feeding as needed. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and medical records management. Certification as a Medication Technician (or equivalent) required; additional certifications in caregiving or nursing assistance are advantageous. $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
