Position Summary The Certified Medication Aide is responsible for the safe administration of medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse while assisting with resident care and maintaining accurate documentation. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to quality care and regulatory compliance. Essential Responsibilities Administer medications accurately and safely according to physician orders and facility policies. Verify resident identity before medication administration and observe residents for medication effectiveness and potential adverse reactions. Accurately document medication administration and promptly report medication refusals, errors, or changes in resident condition. Review Medication Administration Records (MARs) to ensure completeness and accuracy. Assist with medication inventory, storage, and ordering while maintaining proper security and accountability for medications, including controlled substances. Communicate effectively with licensed nurses, physicians, pharmacy staff, residents, and family members regarding medication-related concerns. Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed and provide compassionate, resident-centered care. Maintain compliance with infection prevention, HIPAA, and all federal, state, and facility regulations. Promote a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents, visitors, and team members. Perform additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership. Qualifications Current North Carolina Certified Medication Aide (CMA) certification required. Current North Carolina Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing preferred. Current CPR certification required. Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting is preferred. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic health records preferred. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
