Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medication Technician to join our healthcare team for double shifts on weekends. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medication administration, resident care, and healthcare regulations, with experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital settings. As a Medication Technician, you will be responsible for accurately administering medications, monitoring residents' health status, and ensuring compliance with all safety and confidentiality standards. Duties Administer prescribed medications to residents accurately and safely, following all state and federal healthcare regulations. Monitor residents' vital signs and overall health status, reporting any changes or concerns promptly to nursing staff. Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and other medical records management tools. Assist residents with personal care tasks such as mobility support, hygiene, and feeding, including tube feeding when necessary. Ensure proper handling of medications, including storage, disposal, and documentation in compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards. Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, providing compassionate assistance tailored to individual requirements. Follow protocols for infection control, manual handling, heavy lifting, and safe patient transfer techniques. Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to promote optimal resident care and well-being. Qualifications Prior experience working as a Medication Technician or in a similar caregiving role within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care practices. Certification as a Medication Technician or similar credential recognized by the State Board of Nursing is required. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs such as dementia or memory impairments is highly desirable. Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Cerner or similar platforms; familiarity with EHR systems preferred. Valid CPR and First Aid certification; additional training in hospice care or hospice support is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks associated with patient care. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and healthcare team members while maintaining resident confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
