It's a calm, inclusive \"third place\" between home and school where everyone can belong and feel understood. Join our community center team, where you'll play a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children and families. Your energetic and proactive approach will help ensure smooth daily operations while fostering community connections and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Why This Role Is Special You will witness the relief parents feel when they finally find a place that understands them and play a direct part in building that support network. The role allows you to use clinical-aligned skills in a natural, real-world environment, build your resume for related roles, and find fulfillment through supporting our nonprofit work. Our Current Needs Right now, we are looking for a part-time employee to cover four shifts per week . You will work face-to-face with families and kids with intellectual or developmental delays, keeping the space welcoming and safe. Our facility is not drop-off or childcare. Parents and caregivers stay with their kiddos at all times.

Responsibilities Welcome and assist guests:

Greet and check in families, enroll new members, provide information, and resolve inquiries promptly with a friendly, helpful attitude. Maintain a safe, inclusive environment: Monitor play zones and the facility for hazards, enforce rules and safety standards, and provide first aid or CPR when necessary and within the scope of your training. Keep the space ready for families: Reset equipment and clean play areas and shared spaces to keep the facility welcoming, organized, and safe.

Process payments accurately:

Handle cash transactions and use point-of-sale (POS) systems to process payments efficiently for memberships, event tickets, merchandise, or food sales, as applicable.

Manage concerns and conflicts:

Address conflicts or disputes calmly and professionally, using conflict management techniques to maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere.

Build connections and offer support:

Listen to family stories, learn what support they need, and connect them to resources, advocacy groups, therapy partners, and other community services through warm, personal handoffs. Experience and Requirements At this time, this role requires formal training so we can meet our safety standards and commitments to grants and other funders. We're looking for someone with current or past professional experience working with neurodivergent or disabled kids. This can include working as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist, Registered Behavior Technician, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, therapy assistant, child life specialist, special-education teacher, or a student working toward one of these roles.

Additional requirements include:

Safety and emergency readiness: Knowledge of safety protocols and first aid certification to respond effectively in emergencies. CPR certification is preferred.

Payment processing:

Familiarity with retail sales processes, cash handling, POS systems, and processing transactions accurately.

Customer service and communication:

Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and courteously with children, caregivers, and diverse community members. Shifts Available Sunday -Thursday Opening shift: 9:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Closing shift:

1:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Weekend shift:

10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Employment is contingent on completion of a background check.

Pay:
