Building Administration Position Summary The Student Support Specialist helps run the BREATHE (Building Resilience, Education, Accountability, and Trust for Health Empowerment) Program while supporting a safe, positive, and respectful school environment at North Andover High School. This person works directly with students who need extra academic, behavioral, or social-emotional support, helps administrators respond to student needs, supervises students in the BREATHE Program, assists with restorative and diversionary behavior supports, monitors hallways, provides classroom coverage when needed, and helps students successfully return to learning after behavioral incidents. The goal of this position is to keep students connected to school, build accountability, and reduce the need for exclusionary discipline whenever possible. Essential Responsibilities Supervise students assigned to the BREATHE Program. Facilitate restorative conversations, reflection activities, and problem-solving discussions. Support students in developing self-regulation, executive functioning, conflict resolution, and healthy decision-making skills. Assist students with completing academic work while assigned to the program. Assist students with communication to their teachers and other staff while in the program. Student Support and Behavioral Intervention Work with students after experiencing behavioral or emotional dysregulation. Support administrators with diversionary and restorative responses to behavioral incidents. Assist with student re-entry following disciplinary or behavioral incidents. Promote positive student relationships while reinforcing school expectations. Hallway Safety Provide visible supervision throughout hallways and cafeteria. Assist with student transitions throughout the school day. Support administrators with bathroom safety, specifically around loitering and vape use Classroom Coverage (when needed) Provide classroom supervision as requested by administration. Collaboration Collaborate with administrators and staff Maintain accurate documentation as requested. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA and district policies. Participate in school-based meetings and professional development as assigned. Qualifications Preferred Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience working with students in an educational setting. Experience with restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, or behavioral interventions preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to build positive relationships with students. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during challenging situations. Flexibility and ability to respond to changing school needs.
