Full Job Description Hours:
Qualifications:
Must have a degree OR 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university OR have taken or will take and pass the ETS Parapro test before being hired.
Job Functions:
The SSP will be the primary support for students during the intervention block periods each day. While teachers will be working on high-need interventions during this time, the SSP will be working with students on additional enrichment and academic support opportunities. Additionally, the SSP will assist teachers and school staff with the implementation of behavior intervention plans. The SSP will be trained and will work on executing de-escalation. strategies, helping students develop proactive coping tools, and work with teachers to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Takes guidance from the principal, instructional coach, kindergarten teacher and lead SSP to ensure students are supported and to instill positive student behavior. Works closely with students who are at-risk, particularly in Literacy/ELA, and Math, and in emotionally healthy coping skills and proactive behavior modification Assist in the development of academic enrichment opportunities for students Work directly with students in executing enrichment lessons and academic interventions Assist in the development of PBIS support structures Helps test students Works directly with students in guiding positive behaviors in school. Other academic and behavior support duties as assigned.
