Behavior Specialist- Coon Rapids Overnight

Job Description

Under supervision, IHS W Training provide services to adults with Developmental Disabilities, Mental Illness, and/or Chemical Dependency in the individuals home, ensuring that programs are implemented properly to increase the persons served independence. The incumbent will carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, applicable to federal, state, local standards, guidelines, and regulations as directed by the reporting supervisor. This is an Asleep PT Overnight Position. $15/HR with $3 Differential on Weekends. Behavioral Essential duties
  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis to track progress and outcomes.
  • Assist with crisis management and behavior support as needed.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
  • Provide support during community outings and social activities. Requirements
  • Previous experience working with individuals with autism or related developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health principles and techniques
  • Ability to handle high magnitude behavior
  • Ability to de-escalate intensive physical aggression and property destruction.
  • Ability to follow behavior intervention plans and implement strategies effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to collect data accurately and maintain detailed records.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and ability to take vital signs if required.
  • Familiarity with special education practices and principles is a plus.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Independent Living Skills Essential Duties Become an advocate for the people served. Promote mental and physical well-being of persons served. Assist with Activities of Daily living. Teach independent living skills. Encourage proper behavioral development. Advocate for affordable and accessible housing, employment opportunities, and adequate and accessible transportation. Understand various benefit systems, such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Medicare, or Social Security and be able to assist consumers in navigating these systems. Help clients participate in activities of their choice, respects client's personal beliefs, choices, and interests. Provide one-on-one or group training in daily living skills, including cooking, bathing, medication administration, budgeting, and other skills. Provide transportation to consumers who have limited access to public transportation. Assist clients in peer support and socialization activities. Offer information, resources, and referral services to clients to assist in the attainment of client generated goals. Suggest community activities and education courses for clients. Participate in work groups or community activities with clients. Provide crisis intervention counseling as needed. Provide options and choices to consumers so that they can make informed decisions. Train clients with work-related skills and job preparedness. Develop awareness of community resources throughout the service area. Serve as role model and mentor, demonstrate the desired behaviors, and coach the clients using approved techniques and strategies. Provide clients with positive reinforcement and feedback. Follow policies and procedures guidelines. Maintain professionalism. Independent Living Skills worker Required Skills Ability to read, write, and comprehend English effectively. Basic mathematical skills Ability to solve practical problems. Requirements Experience with different personalities and backgrounds CPR and First Aid Certified - We provide free & paid training! 18 years or older High School Diploma or equivalent Compassion and passion for supporting your community. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Availability to work weekend. Pass a MN DHS Background Study
