Placement determined by experience per the negotiated LESPA Contract.
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to provide the school with various student supervision and assistance tasks as directed by the principal. Supervision and monitoring tasks may include bus area, cafeteria, detention room or office, health room, hall, or other school areas. In some cases, supervision may occur away from the school, such as on field trips. Other responsibilities include clerical-type assistance in the school or school office and may include light housekeeping duties and safety inspection and monitoring.
Must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions. The position is primarily supervising students on the playground, cafeteria and possible afternoon bus route.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists the designated teacher(s) with individual and group supervision and behavior management of students.
Observes, collects data, and records student behavior.
Performs lunchroom, playground, hall, bus area, detention room, health room, and general school supervision.
Prepares and operates audio-visual equipment as needed.
Performs clerical activities as needed.
Participates in staffing or parent meetings as directed.
Assists parents and community members as needed.
Participates in district classified assistant staff development program activities.
Works harmoniously with others and communicates effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff.
Frequent and prolonged talking/hearing conversations.
