Overview Our Behavior Technician provide direct care to individuals with developmental, mental health, or physical disabilities in their home (residential setting) and in the community. DSP's will provide direct care in accordance with the individual's Individual Abuse Prevention Plan (IAPP), the Self-Management Assessment (SMA), and the Coordinated Service and Support Plan Addendum (CSSP-A). The

BEHAVIOR TECHNICIAN

will assist individuals with enhancing daily living skills while supporting individual choices and preferences. The Behavior Technician reports directly to the Program Supervisor and/or Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interact appropriately and professionally with individuals with a person-centered approach, treating them with dignity, respect, and incluson at all times.
• Behavior Technicians know, understand, and advocate for the individuals that are being served while encouraging and assisting individuals with exercising their rights both in their home and community.

Facilitate community involvement and integration around individual choices and interests while maintaining positive relationships. This could include taking individuals shopping, out to eat, to a sporting event, to church, etc. Provide direct supervision and support to individuals in crisis Implement behavioral support plans and de-escalation strategies Maintain a safe, structured, therapeutic environment Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) Accurately document behaviors, incidents, and interventions Collaborate with team members to ensure continuity of care Respond effectively to escalating behaviors and crisis situations

• Attend all staff meetings as requested and scheduled at the program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Driving Requirement(s): A Behavior Technician must be comfortable transporting individuals in a company vehicle (van) to and from community activities and appointments as requested and needed. While using the company vehicle, it is important that all traffic laws are followed, including the use of a seat belt, following the speed limit, using turn signals, etc. At times, if a company vehicle is not available, a Behavior Technician may be asked to use their personal vehicle.

• Automobile insurance should be submitted to Human Resources at the time of hire AND when renewed thereafter to assure compliance with the driving requirements per company insurance requirements.
• Any moving violations that an employee receives throughout employment should be discussed with the HR Director and/or Owner to ensure that it does not affect the ability to remain in a driving position.

Qualifications Minimum qualifications:

Be at least 18 years of age (16 years of age for some programs). Have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Have a reliable vehicle and valid proof of personal automobile insurance. Have the ability to pass a complete background check by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Department of Human Services (this will include a photograph and fingerprinting). Additional "preferred" qualifications:

• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration.
• Have a passion to work with individuals who have developmental, mental health, or physical disabilities.
• Have prior experience working in a residential, day program, or educational setting working with individuals who have developmental, mental health, or physical disabilities.
• Have the ability to work independently, use good judgement, and apply decision-making skills if and when needed.
• Have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
• Have the ability to complete mathematical tasks, but not limited to, adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, calculating percentages, and balancing accounts.
• Have a physical ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50lbs on occasion.
