Youth Care Worker (Overnight Awake)

Job Description

Make a Difference While Others Sleep - Join the Hawthorn Heights WNC Team! If you're looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of at-risk youth, we'd love to meet you! Hawthorn Heights WNC is seeking a compassionate, dependable Full-Time Overnight Awake Youth Care Worker to help provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment for adolescents in our residential program. In this vital role, you will remain awake throughout your shift to supervise residents during evening and overnight hours, monitor the safety and well-being of youth, respond appropriately to emergencies or behavioral concerns, and help ensure a calm, secure environment. Responsibilities also include preparing meals, maintaining a clean and orderly facility, completing daily progress notes and incident reports, and supporting other household routines as needed. Schedule This is an awake overnight position working 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
on a rotating two-week schedule:
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Week 2: Wednesday and Thursday Qualifications Must be at least 21 years old , as required by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for licensed residential programs. Valid driver license required. Experience working with adolescents, particularly those with behavioral, emotional, or mental health needs, is preferred. Ability to remain awake, alert, and engaged throughout the entire overnight shift. Strong crisis intervention, behavior management, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills. Ability to accurately complete documentation, including daily progress notes, incident reports, and other required records. Knowledge of or willingness to obtain First Aid, CPR, medication administration, and other required certifications. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, including basic computer proficiency. Ability to prepare meals, maintain a clean and safe living environment, and provide positive supervision and support to youth during overnight hours. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to providing trauma-informed, person-centered care.
