Behavioral Health Technician

SUPERVISED BY

House Manager/ Program Director

CLASSIFICATION
Non- Exempt SALARY:

$18 -22 per hour

SCHEDULE

Days are variable depending on department and company needs. This position is full-time, up to 40 hours a week, and for swing shift, 3PM - 11PM. The position requires working weekends and holidays.

JOB SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Technician position aims to develop a strong patient-focused perspective to support clients in their goal of living a substance-free life. The Behavioral Health Technician will work closely with the Behavioral Health Technician staff to develop the skills necessary to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities. The BHT will be expected to communicate with the doctor and to provide some medication education to the client. In addition to the duties identified below, this position may perform general office/house support functions and assists personnel as necessary. Duties may change to meet the client's needs.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED/ Bacherlors Degree Preferable

EXPERIENCE

Two Years Preferred

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

CPR/First Aid, ( Preferable)

DUTIES:

Aid clients requiring assistance dealing with substance abuse problems. Supervise clients' medication and maintain logs documenting processes using KIPU emr system. Support staff with house cleaning duties, when needed. Adhere to medication policies and procedures. May be required to assist in training staff on policies and procedures, as it pertains to medication and documentation. Review, update, and maintain medical-related policies and procedures. Perform monthly audit of medication logs. Attend and participate in mandated staff meetings and scheduled team meeting and training's as required. Maintain professional relationships and observe the appropriate boundaries and limits with clients. Maintain appropriate attendance record. Run light errands Take and document vitals as needed. Train and review the use of medical terminology by staff, if needed. Assist the medical staff with pre-approved tasks. Other duties as assigned Transports clients to and from necessary appointments when needed Observes and monitors clients behavior and intervenes based on schedule, individual clients treatment plan and house needs Facilitates assigned groups/meetings/activities per program schedule Documents observations / milieu interventions in client records ( on Kipu) Coordinates milieu treatment with counseling staff Provides transportation to and supervision of clients at community 12-step meetings per program schedule Transports clients per supervisor's directives (for court, ancillary services, etc.) as needed Ensures transportation safety by conducting van inspections and following safety rules Ensures client telephones are available (ringer on) during designated hours Supervises self-administration of client of client medications (only after provided with appropriate training) Ensures physical client safety and security by conducting regular house checks and room checks Conducts check-in to residence with new clients including search of items brought to facility and lock-up of contraband and medications / Complete Admission/Intake paperwork with incoming client when needed. Follows emergency procedures exactly ATA prevention; including one-on-one peer counseling, notification of assigned counselor and immediate notification (via in person, email, text message) of Residential Manager and Therapist whenever a client talks about leaving the program Conduct a shift change at the end of every shift Attend mandatory staff meetings Conducts UA drug screen collection when directed, following appropriate procedures Room checks are to be done every hour during the day, for overnight shifts it is to be done every 30 minutes.

FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES WILL RECEIVE AT LEAST 20 HOURS OF TRAINING DURING THEIR FIRST WEEK OF EMPLOYMENT
