The Music Tree of Boston's mission is to provide high-quality music education and music therapy to students and clients of all ages and abilities. We offer in-home, in-person music lessons and music therapy services in the Metrowest areas of Boston, predominantly in the towns of Natick and Sherborn, with 3 recital days per year in December and June. We are looking for a skilled musician and experienced Board-Certified Music Therapist to join our team, who is capable of working itinerantly, traveling to client's homes and program centers in the city of Boston as well as metrowest areas such as Natick, Framingham, Sherborn, Needham, Sudbury, Weston, Newton, Watertown, Brookline, Westwood, Canton, and possibly other areas as needed. This music therapist must be reliable, personable, charismatic, energetic, amicable, flexible, willing to commit to our growing community of musicians, and must own a car with a valid registration and driver's license. IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT
Board-Certified Music Therapist must own a car and have proof of a valid drivers license and current car registration.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a music therapy client caseload of various ages and abilities
Create individualized music therapy client session plans
Maintain client notes, addressing short-term and long-term goals
Ability to write music therapy assessments preferred
Ability and willingness to include other artistic modalities preferred
Ownership of music therapy instruments to include in sessions, such as guitars, keyboards, and percussion instruments
Create/collaborate on music therapy group curriculum for early intervention and early childhood age clients
Manage client and parent/family dynamics effectively, ensuring a positive therapy environment and experience
Drive to client's homes and/or program-sites while following given therapy schedule in a timely manner
Attend supervision and team meetings remotely, 1-4 times per month
Attend student recital days 3+ times per academic year, for adaptive music students
Participate and actively engage in "New In-Home Music Therapy Training "
Hours:
Weekdays with flexible hours depending on clients and group needs
Qualifications:
At least 3 years of music therapy experience preferred
Willingness to work with clients of all ages and abilities, from age 6 months to adults
Candidates who have experience working with kids/adolescents with special needs are preferred
Early childhood music education experience preferred
Ability and willingness to offer adaptive music lessons for students with special needs preferred
Masters of Music Therapy and/or Mental Health Counseling degree, or equivalent, and/or MT-BC is required (new graduates working towards their certification will be considered)
