Job Description

Category Schools - Music Therapist Job Type Contract Bring your passion for music therapy to a dynamic educational environment as you support students with diverse needs across multiple campuses near Sugar Land, TX. This contract role is part-time (20 hours weekly, with the possibility to increase as the program expands), offering a flexible schedule with the opportunity to work on-site within local schools. You'll collaborate with both students and staff in a vital, engaging capacity throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
National Certification in Music Therapy required Background or strong interest in working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities Knowledge of assessment protocols, individualized education plans (IEP), and adaptive equipment for music therapy Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to provide and document therapy services in compliance with federal, state, and school district policies Willingness to complete district fingerprinting requirements (if not already on file)
Core Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and group music therapy sessions, scheduling services to meet IEP and campus requirements Assess students with disabilities to determine eligibility and support specific IEP goals Develop progress reports, participate in ARD Committees, and help set meaningful student goals Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents to optimize therapy impact and provide staff training as needed Foster a safe, supportive environment for students' growth and learning Track, report, and maintain all necessary documentation in accordance with district and legal standards
