POSITION SUMMARY

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to perform imaging procedures that assess organ function and detect abnormalities. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, ensuring patient safety, and following radiation safety regulations. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will collaborate with healthcare teams and licensed practitioners to produce high-quality diagnostic images for accurate evaluation and treatment planning.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES 1.

Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients using gamma cameras, PET/CT scanners, and other specialized imaging equipment to visualize specific body functions and organs. 2. Maintains a safe environment with the operation of nuclear medicine equipment for customers/patients, coworkers, and self by adhering to nuclear medicine policies, procedures, and guidelines. 3. Screens patients properly and effectively documents and communicates pertinent and required information pre and post procedure performance. 4. Positions patients for imaging exam using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with department safety procedures and protocols. 5. Produces images consistent with image quality standards and evaluate nuclear medicine exams for technical quality. 6. Properly identifies, prepares and administers medications that are within the Nuclear Medicine Technologist's scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. 7. Monitors patients during exams, observing for any adverse reactions or complications, and taking appropriate action when necessary. 8. Maintains flexibility, adapts to changes in workflow processes and the needs of the Health First organization based upon fluctuations in patient volume. 9. Communicates effectively with customers (patients, LP, other Health First associates, the public, etc.) always using excellent customer relation skills. 10. Follows all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations and adhere to The Joint Commission/ACR standards. 11. Provides orientation and education for new Technologists and assist radiologists in developing new protocols.
