Job Description
Join Wellstar as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist providing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in a not-for-profit, patient-centered health system. You will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate SPECT/CT and PET/CT equipment, perform quality control, and ensure radiation safety in compliance with regulatory standards. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams across hospitals and care settings, support compassionate, inclusive care, and grow through ongoing education, clinical resources, and career mobility across the Wellstar system. Responsibilities Perform nuclear medicine procedures including imaging, non-imaging, and therapeutic studies according to physician orders and safety standards Prepare, calculate, and administer radiopharmaceuticals following ALARA principles and regulatory guidelines Verify patient identity, obtain history, explain procedures, and ensure informed consent and comfort Operate and troubleshoot gamma cameras, SPECT/CT, PET/CT, and related imaging and processing systems Analyze images and data for quality, perform preliminary processing, and forward studies for physician interpretation Maintain accurate documentation, patient records, and regulatory logs for radiopharmaceuticals and radiation safety Monitor radiation exposure, conduct daily quality control, and adhere to all state, federal, and accrediting body regulations Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and scheduling Participate in continuing education, competency assessments, and implementation of new protocols and technologies Support a culture of safety, compassion, and inclusion aligned with Wellstar values Required Skills Nuclear medicine imaging procedures (SPECT/Planar) PET/CT imaging Radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration Radiation safety and ALARA compliance Quality control of nuclear medicine equipment Image processing and post-processing software Patient identification, assessment, and positioning Regulatory documentation and record-keeping IV insertion and venipuncture Cross-sectional anatomy and pathology recognition
