Job Description

Essential Functions:
Administers radiopharmaceuticals under physician guidance. Obtain and process diagnostic images following regulatory guidelines. Direct patient care, monitors, prepares and administers radio pharmaceuticals. Maintain nuclear medicine equipment. Knowledge of nuclear medicine operations, including Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), state and other regulatory or accreditation agency regulations. Perform quality controls following protocols and regulatory guidelines under supervision of Radiation Safety Officer and Director of Diagnostic Services. Assist the Radiation Safety Officer with radiation safety initiatives, including, but not limited to radiation dosimetry Reports equipment malfunctions to Director of Diagnostic Services. Documents all completed nuclear procedures and processes all related paperwork as directed by physician order. Must have knowledge and experience regarding electronic medical records (Athena). Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical supplies. In person regular and punctual attendance Must be willing to answer phones. Skills/Abilities Proficient in all nuclear medicine modalities and protocols. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing. Knowledge of nuclear testing equipment including safety hazards. Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality as directed by OSHA and HIPAA standards. Knowledge of medical chart reporting and electronic medical records. Knowledge of clinic/medical practice procedures related to all medical operations. Must be skilled in customer service and have a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all patients and callers. Must be well organized and detail organized and be able to work independently without much supervision. Must have skills in critical thinking, communication, influence and decision making. Must have the ability to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team. Competent in starting peripheral IV's. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Variety of standing, sitting, walking. Must be able to lift 50 pounds of equipment, to transfer patients, to hold patients in specific positions during procedures. Occasional stress from dealing with tense patients, and the need to be accurate and safe.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associates or Bachelor Degree in
Nuclear Medicine Technology Licenses and Certifications:
Certification or licensure with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
