Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) Independent Contractor | Connecticut | 12-40 Clinical Hours/Week | Flexible Schedule | Telemedicine Available Growing Connecticut outpatient psychiatric practice is seeking a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join the practice as a 1099 independent contractor . We are looking for an independently practicing clinician who enjoys longitudinal outpatient psychiatry and is interested in developing a stable, long-term patient panel within an established practice. Compensation for this independent contractor (1099) position is based on a percentage of collected insurance reimbursements and will vary according to payer mix, services provided, patient volume, and the provider's chosen schedule/hours; the posted range reflects estimated potential earnings and is not a guaranteed hourly wage or salary. Qualifications Candidates must:

Be a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) . Hold an active, unrestricted Connecticut APRN license . Have completed Connecticut requirements for independent APRN practice and be able to practice without a collaborative agreement. Be clinically competent to independently evaluate, diagnose, and manage outpatient psychiatric patients. Commit to at least 12 patient-facing clinical hours per week . Demonstrate reliable communication, documentation, and continuity of care. Be eligible for payer credentialing. Carry malpractice insurance or have the ability to obtain prior to start date. Clinical Practice The practice treats a broad outpatient psychiatric adult and adolescent population, including patients with depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, bipolar-spectrum disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, and other appropriate outpatient psychiatric conditions. Clinicians are not expected to treat every diagnosis or population, and individual areas of specialization are welcome. We are looking for clinicians interested in longitudinal psychiatric practice who are comfortable practicing independently, establishing appropriate clinical boundaries, coordinating care, and recognizing when patients require specialty or higher levels of care. Longitudinal Patient Care Although clinicians determine their own patient-facing schedules, this is a longitudinal outpatient practice rather than a shift-based position . Clinicians are expected to remain appropriately engaged in the care of their established patients during the Monday-Friday workweek, including on days when they are not scheduled for appointments. This includes regularly addressing refill requests, medication and pharmacy issues, clinically significant patient messages, and returning patient calls when clinical concerns require prescriber involvement. Clinicians are also expected to communicate with the practice's administrative and VA team regarding their patients and follow clinically significant matters through resolution. This does not require continuous weekday availability. However, candidates seeking a position where responsibility for patients exists only during scheduled appointment hours would not be a good fit. The practice owner generally provides evening and weekend call coverage. Clinicians participate in coverage during the practice owner's planned vacations or extended absences. Telemedicine & Controlled Substances Predominantly telemedicine schedules are welcome. Controlled-substance prescribing is not required . Clinicians who prefer not to prescribe controlled substances may maintain an appropriate non-controlled-substance panel. Clinicians who prescribe controlled substances must maintain an active Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) and appropriate federal DEA registration and comply with applicable laws, monitoring requirements, and practice policies. The practice does not routinely initiate or prescribe benzodiazepines . Stimulant treatment for ADHD may be provided when clinically appropriate. Clinicians prescribing controlled substances must comply with the practice's assessment, monitoring, documentation, and in-person care requirements. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Clinically competent and comfortable practicing independently. Reliable, organized, and timely with documentation. Responsive to patients and practice staff. Thoughtful and responsible regarding prescribing. Comfortable establishing appropriate boundaries. Able to manage reasonable outpatient psychiatric complexity. Interested in developing longitudinal relationships with patients. Comfortable collaborating with administrative staff and other treating clinicians. Interested in a stable, long-term practice relationship . Candidates with established ties to Connecticut who anticipate remaining in the area long term are particularly encouraged to apply.
