Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Urgent Care
Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and autonomous Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our fast-paced urgent care clinical team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients of all ages presenting with acute, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The ideal candidate possesses strong procedural skills, comfortable managing high patient volumes independently while maintaining high standards of clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Evaluation & Treatment:
Perform focused histories and physical examinations for pediatric and adult walk-in patients.
Minor Procedures:
Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair (suturing/dermabond), incision & drainage (I&D), foreign body removal, abscess management, and initial fracture/dislocation management (splinting).
Diagnostics & Interpretation:
Order, perform, and interpret point-of-care lab tests, standard laboratory studies, EKG and diagnostic imaging (X-ray).
Prescribing & Care Planning:
Formulate evidence-based treatment plans, prescribe medications in accordance with Texas prescriptive authority guidelines, and provide comprehensive discharge instructions and patient education.
EHR Documentation:
Complete accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to support appropriate medical billing and continuity of care.
Triage & Escalation:
Promptly recognize unstable or high-acuity patients requiring emergency medical intervention or transfer to local emergency departments.
Qualifications & Requirements Education & Licensure:
Active, unencumbered Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license (FNP or ENP certification preferred) OR active Texas Physician Assistant (PA) license. National Board Certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA). Active Texas Controlled Substance Registration & DEA Certificate.
Certifications:
Active BLS and ACLS certifications (PALS required or obtained within 90 days of hire).
Experience:
Minimum of 2
• years
• of direct clinical experience as an NP or PA in an Urgent Care, Emergency Department, or high-volume Family Practice setting. (New graduates with extensive ED/Urgent Care RN/EMT backgrounds considered on a case-by-case basis).
Clinical Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in suturing, splinting, I&D, X-ray interpretation, and pediatric assessment. Ability to work independently in a solo-provider environment.
Benefits & Compensation Package Base Pay:
Competitive hourly wage ranging from $60/hr to $70/hr , based on experience and shift differentials.
Schedule:
Flexible 12-hour shift rotations (e.g., 3x12 schedule) with rotating weekend coverage. Paid Time Off (PTO): PTO after 1 year of employment.

Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance ($1,500-$3,000/yr).
