In this vital role, you will provide essential support to nursing staff by delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across various healthcare settings. Duties Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility using safe handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts. Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation. Support patient transfer methods using proper body mechanics and transfer devices to promote safety for both patients and staff. Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral support. Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, including aseptic techniques and proper disposal of medical waste. Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems while respecting HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams in settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, assisted living communities, or home care environments. Skills Proven experience working with diverse populations such as geriatric patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring hospice or palliative care. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and patient records management. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) procedures including CPR. Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures and manage medication administration under supervision when required. Strong caregiving skills complemented by excellent communication abilities to interact empathetically with patients and their families. Experience working in acute care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly valued. Physical stamina for manual handling tasks including heavy lifting and safe patient transfers using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts.
