Key Responsibilities:
Provide patient care including baths, back rubs, bed making, vitals, passing trays, feeding patients, enemas, and specimen collection. Assist with admissions, transfers, dismissals, ICU, and terminal patients. Perform housekeeping tasks to keep patient rooms, utility rooms, and nourishment centers clean. Respond to patient lights, provide necessary assistance, and notify nurses as needed. Answer the telephone and greet the public promptly and tactfully. Understand and use the intercom system effectively. Participate in at least 50% of pertinent workshops annually. Assist in evaluating the work performance of staff members. Aid in the training of new personnel. Attend staff meetings as required. Cooperate and work well with staff, the public, and physicians. Perform clerical functions such as recording vitals and diet. Maintain confidentiality of patients' medical, personal, and financial records. Adhere to Corporate Compliance policies and procedures. Comply with Cherry County Hospital personnel policies. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledge of good body mechanics and hospital procedures. Ability to maintain complete confidentiality regarding patient care services. Competence in assembling, disassembling, and operating equipment. Ability to follow directions and report general observations. Ability to exercise some independent judgment. Preference for working with the public and other staff. Willingness to accept change and perform a variety of tasks, including some that may be unpleasant. Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality laws, including HIPAA.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
The work is physically and emotionally demanding, involving lifting and positioning patients. Requires working in close proximity with others in a clean, favorable environment. Regular working hours with the possibility of overtime. Dexterity needed to operate equipment, telephone, intercom system, and other tasks as required. Must be agile and able to move carefully around patients and equipment. Job involves potential exposure to hazardous materials such as contaminated body fluids. Repetitive use of hands, arms, and eyes, which could result in strain. Must possess knowledge and insight to comply with universal precautions and hospital policies. Requirements:
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Completion of a minimum of one year of high school. Minimum age requirement of 16 years. Certification as a CNA.
