Description The certified nurse aide is responsible to provide direct and indirect personal nursing care in compliance with physician orders, facility policy & procedures, and within the scope of practice for a Pennsylvania Certified Nurse Aide. Personal care is delegated by the Registered Nurse or charge nurse on duty, and performed under the direction of licensed registered and or practical nurses.

Qualifications:

Current, active, and in good standing, Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Certification.

Current CPR certification

Passes physical examination provided by a Pennsylvania Licensed provider

Must be in good physical and mental health

Effective communicator, team player with patience, kindness, compassion, tact, and enthusiasm. Responsibilities Receives room assignment from charge nurse.

Participates in transition of care with walking rounds with off going aide staff at the beginning and end of each shift.

Responsible for direct resident care as assigned and as per resident individualized plan of care provided in the care aide records.

Performs and assist with activities of daily living for all assigned resident including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, transportation and restorative nursing.

Responsible for the care of the assigned resident bedside units, including bathroom and personal belongings tidiness.. i.e. beds made, uncluttered bedsides and tidy closets.

Coordinates schedules and provides assistance to licensed staff when indicated, in the delivery of skilled nursing tasks including preparation for med administration, dressing changes, physical assessments and other skilled nursing tasks.

Vital signs as ordered by the charge nurse.

Responsible to respond to call bell alarm for assistance.

Works cooperatively as a team member offering assistance to other on duty CNA's with transferring residents and providing care when residents require the assistance of two and requests help from others when indicated.

Responsible to cover the floor and assist all residents in need of care during CNA's rest periods and lunch.

Toilets and provides incontinent care to assigned residents every 2 hours.

Empty foley cath urinary drainage bags at the end of every shift or as needed.

Reports to the charge nurse all resident change in condition, deviation from the usual resident condition or behavior.

Reports to charge nurse resident without urine output and any reported meal that resident consumed less than 50% of the meal.

Provides fresh ice water every shift as per passing of water policy if hospitality aide not on duty.

Properly dispose and discard garbage and linen at the end of the shift.

Documents on the care records every shift on every resident assigned.

Follow specific CNA shift timelines tasks, manage own time, and meet the resident needs within the shift and as requested.

Provides comfort and safety to all residents.

Provides compassionate, respectable, private care to all residents.

Participate in resident individualized plan of care.

Completes all other tasks assigned by the charge nurse or Director of Nursing

Attends nursing staff meetings and mandatory inservices .

Participates in new employee orientation.

Demonstrates knowledge of objectives and established policies and procedures of Guy & Mary Felt Manor.

Is required to work every other weekend and rotate working every other holiday.

Working Conditions:

Works in well lighted, ventilated rooms and hallways. Sits, stands, bends, stoops, and walks intermittently during the work day. Lifting and moving residents and equipment are required. May be subject to odors and infectious diseases. Frequently contact with the public, visitors, and residents.
