Job Description

THE POSITION

This role allows you to support daily health needs while helping inmates maintain comfort and dignity at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. Your work will directly support individualized care plans and ensure safe living conditions. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports individualized inmate care plans by assisting with daily health tasks, comfort measures, and basic hygiene needs. The role helps maintain a safe environment, ensures accurate documentation, and supports licensed healthcare staff in delivering quality care. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:
Vital Monitoring:
Check and record vital signs, height, and weight while documenting patterns and changes
Specimen Collection:
Collect required specimens and record related information for review by licensed staff
Personal Care:
Assist inmates with hygiene needs, feeding, skin care, mobility support, and comfort measures
Safety Support:
Follow infection control procedures, maintain clean areas, and report hazards to supervisors
Record Keeping:
Enter information in health records, prepare reports, and communicate important updates
Equipment Care:
Sterilize supplies, maintain inventory, and ensure adequate stock levels Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Eight-hour shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM), with a 30-minute lunch. Your work schedule is to be determined.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
