Responsibilities Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Provide compassionate dementia and Alzheimer's care, employing specialized techniques to enhance residents' comfort and safety. Collaborate with nursing staff to observe changes in residents' conditions, report concerns promptly, and assist with medical documentation as required. Practice safe manual handling and aseptic techniques during patient transfers and wound care procedures. Engage with residents using effective caregiver communication skills to promote trust and emotional well-being; support families with updates on resident status when appropriate. Skills Proven experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care or nursing home settings; familiarity with memory care and behavioral health is highly valued. Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, medication administration protocols, and basic anatomy knowledge. Experience utilizing EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper lifting practices; comfortable with manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Critical care experience or ICU background is a plus; familiarity with infectious disease care and trauma center procedures enhances your candidacy.
