Job Description

Avera Health is seeking a compassionate Resident Assistant to support quality care in our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will assist residents with daily living needs, comfort, and safety while partnering closely with nursing staff. Responsibilities include personal care, observation and documentation, supporting care plans, and engaging residents in meaningful activities. You'll work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment that values respect, hospitality, and stewardship, with opportunities for professional growth within Avera's regional health network. Responsibilities Provide daily living assistance to residents, including bathing, grooming, and mobility support Monitor and document residents' health status, reporting changes to nursing staff Support medication reminders and follow established care plans under clinical direction Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents Assist with meals, hydration, and nutritional monitoring Engage residents in social, recreational, and wellness activities Communicate compassionately with residents, families, and the care team Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies Participate in training, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives Required Skills Resident care and daily living assistance Basic vital signs monitoring and observation Documentation of care and resident status Infection control and safety procedures Assisting with mobility and safe transfers Basic nutritional support and feeding assistance Customer service in a healthcare setting Electronic health record or charting basics Team communication in clinical environments Time management in shift-based care
