Clinical Director Position Objective:
The Certified Nursing Assistant, CNA, provides essential care to residents in a nursing home setting. Working under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the CNA helps residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensures their comfort and safety, and supports their physical and emotional well-being. This role requires compassion, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist with
ADLs:
Help residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding
Mobility Support:
Aid residents with walking, transferring (e.g. from bed to wheelchair), positioning, and range-of-motion exercises
Vital Signs and Health Monitoring:
Measure and record residents' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Report changes in condition to the nursing staff
Basic Nursing Care:
Assist with wound care, catheter care, and other simple medical tasks as directed by a licensed nurse
Maintain Cleanliness and Safety:
Keep resident's rooms, common areas, and equipment clean and orderly; help reduce fall risks and ensure a safe environment
Documentation:
Accurately document care provided, including activities, food intake, vital signs, and any observed changes in residents' conditions
Emotional Support and Companionship:
Provide companionship, engage residents in social activities, and help maintain a positive, supportive environment Communicate with
Families:
Interact with residents' family members as needed, providing updates and ensuring families are informed of residents' needs and progress Performs other related duties as required or requested
Other Key Responsibilities:
Work with residents on prescribed exercises to promote mobility, improve strength, and support recovery as instructed by physical therapists Track and document residents' fluid intake and output to support hydration and nutrition management Help prepare, serve, and monitor resident's meals; ensure dietary restrictions and preferences are followed Follow infection control procedures, including proper hand hygiene, wearing personal protection equipment PPE, and disinfecting surfaces to prevent the spread of illnesses Promptly respond to residents' call lights or requests for assistance to ensure timely care Motivate residents to join recreational and social activities to support their emotional well-being and mental stimulation Support residents in palliative or hospice care with compassion and dignity, assisting with comfort measures and supporting family members as needed Always maintain residents' privacy and dignity during care and communicate respectfully Observe and report changes in residents' behavior, mood, or cognition to help address mental health needs Encourage residents to perform tasks independently to the best of their ability, promoting confidence and autonomy
Qualifications:
Must hold an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license in the state of employment Previous experience in a nursing home or long-term care facility is preferred but not required Strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work as part of a team, and capacity for physical tasks such as lifting residents Ability to problem solve using critical and creative thinking to identify and resolve issues Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English Physical Requirements "Occasionally" equals approximately 1% to 33% of the workday, "frequently" equals approximately 34% to 66% of the workday, and "continuously" equals approximately 67% to 100% of the workday (typical full-time workday is 8 hours). 1)

Work Environment:
