River View on the Appomattox

Administrator

Job Description

LEAD WHERE THE RIVER MEETS EXCEPTIONAL CARE
Administrator • River View on the Appomattox • Hopewell, VA Some workplaces have a view of a parking lot. Yours will have a view of the Appomattox River. River View on the Appomattox isn't just a skilled nursing and rehabilitation community — it's a place where residents wake up to water views, where recovery happens alongside genuine connection, and where the person at the helm makes all the difference. We're looking for a driven, compassionate Administrator to lead our team, our operations, and our mission of delivering best-in-class care to the Hopewell community and beyond. If you're a natural leader who can balance the bottom line with the human line — someone who sees regulations as a floor, not a ceiling, and residents as neighbors, not numbers — we want to meet you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Oversee the day-to-day operations of our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, ensuring excellence in resident care, regulatory compliance, and staff performance Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and support staff Manage the facility's budget, staffing levels, and resources to ensure operational and financial health Serve as the primary liaison with residents, families, physicians, regulatory agencies, and the broader Hopewell community Champion a culture of accountability, dignity, and warmth — from the front desk to the bedside Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations governing long-term care facilities Drive quality improvement initiatives and maintain survey readiness
What Sets You Apart:
Experience leading a facility through a state survey with strong outcomes A track record of staff retention and team-building in a healthcare setting Genuine passion for elder care and community-centered leadership
WHY RIVER VIEW?
Competitive salary, commensurate with experience Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, PTO) A beautiful riverfront facility with a genuinely warm, tight-knit staff culture The chance to lead an organization that residents' families describe as feeling like home Located minutes from I-295, with easy access to Richmond and Petersburg
THE LOCATION
Hopewell, Virginia — right where the Appomattox River meets the James, just steps from John Randolph Medical Center, and close enough to Richmond for weekend adventures without the big-city price tag.
READY TO LEAD?
If you're ready to bring your leadership, your license, and your heart to a team that's redefining what senior care can look like — we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and help us write River View on the Appomattox's next chapter.
Required Qualifications:
Current Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license in good standing with the Virginia Board of Long-Term Care Administrators Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred) Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Licensed Administrator in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations, including CMS and Medicare/Medicaid requirements Proven track record in budget management, staff leadership, and survey/regulatory compliance Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with residents, families, and staff alike A valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check and health screening as required by Virginia law
