The ATA Career Education Nursing Program in Spring Hill, FL is looking for energetic, dedicated, and experienced nurses to teach (didactic and/or clinical) in our Pre-Licensure Practical Nursing Program. Experience as an RN for a minimum of 2 years is required. Teaching experience preferred but not required. We are willing to train talented and committed individuals with positive attitudes. Evening positions are available. No weekends. The instructor's primary responsibility is to instruct classes and labs according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods. Additional duties include advising and tutoring students, maintaining current and accurate attendance/grade records as well as developing daily lesson plans. Faculty members are also expected to remain current in their teaching field by participating in faculty meetings, instructional seminars and in-services training sessions. Instructors are required to participate in school activities such as advisory board meetings, graduation, systematic evaluation committees, and other meetings as assigned by nursing director.
Additional Responsibilities include:
Deliver curriculum as intended by the catalog and approved syllabi on schedule, meeting all stated objectives and timelines. Ensure that the course meets the required number of contact hours as published in the catalog. Conduct classes using organized and interesting methods which, simulate a work environment and facilitate student motivations. Utilize best practices in blueprinting and test mapping to ensure the programmatic curriculum correlates with National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and covers all content of the lifespan. Motivate the students to actively participate in their clinical rotations, while teaching the principles and application of physical, biological and psychological subjects related to nursing. Supervise student nurses and demonstrate patient care in clinical and skills lab arenas. Prepare evaluations of student progress, and maintains records of their clinical experience. Participates in curriculum implementations and meetings. Identify and refer students for tutoring and remediation when appropriate. Submit grades in a timely manner. Demonstrate capacity to teach and facilitate a diverse and cultural mix of students Demonstrate competency in preparation and follow-up of all teaching assignments. Utilize methods which combine didactic, skills, and critical thinking combinations whenever possible to ensure understanding of concepts and relevance. Work with the Nursing Program Director to create and update course and instructional material on a regular basis.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (BSN) or higher preferred (MSN, NP) Prior teaching experience in a School of Nursing desired, but not required Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
