Health Professions Description The program is seeking a qualified professional with expertise in medical surgical nursing. Additional experience in pediatric nursing preferred. Please note that this position is in the full-time faculty bargaining unit, which is represented by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Maryland. Examples of Duties This will vary depending upon position: The successful candidate's responsibilities will include both classroom (online and face-to-face) and clinical teaching, engaging in department and college wide service activities, and academic advising. Classroom content includes responsibility for nursing concepts related to each of the above specialty areas and will be assigned according to area of professional expertise. Clinical responsibilities include direct supervision of students in a variety of settings. Qualifications The successful candidate must possess a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland and hold, at a minimum, a Master's degree in Nursing. Candidates must demonstrate a strong foundation in nursing theory and clinical practice. Current bedside nursing experience, as well as experience in classroom and/or clinical nursing education, is required. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Master's degree in Nursing Education or a Post-Master's Certificate in Nursing Education. Physical Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS IN A CLINICAL SETTING
Work for 8-12 hours performing physical tasks requiring physical energy without jeopardy to client and student safety (strenuous physical activities include but are not limited to: pushing, pulling, stooping, walking and carrying more than 50 pounds). Performing fine movements and be able to manipulate instruments and equipment. Have auditory ability sufficient to monitor and assess health needs of clients. Have visual ability sufficient for observation and assessment necessary for client care.
