Job Description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The full-time nursing faculty is responsible for all duties of the college as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement including teaching and advising. In addition, the faculty member in nursing is responsible to: Coordinate a medical surgical nursing course Coordinate ATI resources Coordinate testing including blueprinting and administering exams Perform no less than 12 hours of clinical per semester at Virtua Health System or other designated facility - which requires all competencies to be completed as well as background screen, drug screen, titers, flu shot, Covid-19 vaccination etc. Assist with any and all accreditation responsibilities Participate in all program meetings and activities
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop accurate exams blueprinted to course objectives Evaluate exam item analyses to determine accuracy Utilize ATI and other program resources to assist the student to meet competencies Participate in accreditation related activities and data collection Perform clinical teaching at least 12 hours per week Be proficient at all methods of teaching (face to face, virtual live, distance education) Perform student support and advising activities competently Participate in college recruitment activities and events either online or in person Have recent medical surgical clinical experience and expertise Have prior teaching experience in a nursing program Have knowledge of the
NCLEX-RN
test plan and be able to write test questions in this manner Demonstrate expertise in subject matter Demonstrate the ability to interact well with others and be a part of a team Display administrative competence in managing courses with 50 to 100 students
OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in specialty area is required (Clinical Master's degree or Master's degree in teaching within nursing or a PhD or NP focused on teaching or clinical practice Experience in teaching in the classroom and in clinical (preferable up to three (3) years) Competence with online programs, teaching, and ability to quickly learn to utilize new technology
Education Required:
MSN, PhD, or NP Experience Required:
Three (3) or more years teaching experience in nursing Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /
Other Requirements:
CPR certification Negative drug screen NJ nursing license All required titers, vaccinations, etc. to access the clinical setting Clinical competencies required by
Virtua Health System Please Note:
Nurses who are not qualified to work at Virtua Health System or have been fired by Virtua Health System will not be considered for employment as we partner with this health system
Additional Information:
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
