Job Responsibilities Investigates operational problems and makes administrative judgments and decisions, consulting the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator On Call as necessary Performs regular rounds on all nursing units; observes resident care and work performance of nursing staff and provides feedback to Nurse Managers Responds to and provides leadership during hospital codes as required Addresses concerns and complaints from employees, patients, families, and physicians using established facility systems Provides information to the media in accordance with facility policy Refers inter and intradepartmental issues to the appropriate resources or resolves them directly as needed Collaborates with unit staff and Nurse Managers to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing Acts as a facilitator for collaboration between Nursing and Medical Staff Assists in disseminating information and answering questions regarding policy, procedures, and other facility communications Takes appropriate actions in response to safety hazards or legal implications Accepts and completes special projects as assigned by the Director of Nursing Serves on councils or committees to help develop policy, implement changes, and improve nursing practice Demonstrates leadership by accepting interim management roles as needed Performs other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications Minimum Required:
A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing Three (3) years of progressive Nursing experience. Current New York State Registered Nurse License CPR within 3 months of hire
Preferred :
Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing Previous supervisory experience in a hospital setting Professional certification in a related nursing specialty (Nursing Administration) ACLS certification Work Environment Work is performed in primarily in a mobile manner, with greater than 70% of working hours spent rounding to patient care units and in direct contact with numerous employees, visitors, patients and physicians. Areas are air conditioned and heated. Frequent walking, standing, bending and lifting. Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies.
