In this role, you will supervise nursing staff, coordinate interdisciplinary care, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster a positive, growth-oriented work environment on the Medical-Surgical unit.

Key Responsibilities Staff Leadership & Supervision :

Oversee and support RNs, LVNs, and support staff; delegate tasks appropriately; evaluate staff performance; and provide real-time coaching and feedback.

Patient Care Oversight :

Supervise the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care plans; perform employee and patient rounding to maintain high standards of care delivery and satisfaction.

Unit Operations & Flow :

Manage bed assignments, monitor patient flow, optimize unit resources, and lead shift handoffs and unit huddles.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration :

Work closely with physicians, care teams, patients, and families to coordinate care and resolve delivery or operational challenges.

Infection Prevention & Safety :

Lead unit safety and infection control protocols—including PPE usage, sterilization, and hand hygiene audits—to ensure compliance with hospital policies and healthcare regulations.

Quality & Education :

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, facilitate ongoing staff training and development, and ensure unit readiness.

Emergency Response :

Lead unit emergency response efforts and deliver direct clinical care as required.

General :

Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all hospital policies and regulatory standards. Qualifications & Requirements Experience & Skills 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience required (Med Surg experience preferred). Strong clinical foundation with the ability to oversee complex patient care. Leadership, mentoring, and team management skills. Excellent critical thinking, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities. Effective communication skills across interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families. Proficiency with hospital information systems and clinical documentation tools. Solid working knowledge of infection control, safety standards, and quality improvement processes.

Licenses & Certifications RN License:

Current State of Texas Registered Nurse licensure or Compact State RN Licensure (Required).

BLS:

Basic Life Support certification (Required).

ACLS:

Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (Preferred). Work Authorization Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.

Experience:

clinical nursing in an acute care hospital setting: 1 year (Required) working as a Charge RN or leading a nursing shift: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

RN license in Texas or valid Compact/Multi-State RN license (Required)
