Job Description

Encompass Health seeks a Rehabilitation Occupational Therapist to provide evidence-based inpatient rehab services to patients recovering from major illness or injury. In this role, you will evaluate functional abilities, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver therapeutic interventions to improve independence in daily living, mobility, and cognition. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, educate patients and families, and document outcomes in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities Evaluate patients' functional status, cognition, and ADL performance using standardized assessments Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans and goals Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, self-care, and functional independence Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety, and adaptive techniques Collaborate with an interdisciplinary rehab team to coordinate comprehensive care Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in the EMR accurately and timely Recommend and train patients in use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and uphold regulatory and accreditation standards Participate in continuing education, specialty training, and professional development Support a patient-centered, compassionate, and ethical care environment Required Skills Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment Knowledge of rehabilitation principles and neurorecovery Activities of daily living (ADL) retraining Cognitive and perceptual rehabilitation Therapeutic exercise and manual techniques Use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology Interdisciplinary care coordination Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Patient and family education Regulatory and accreditation compliance (e.g., Joint Commission)
