In this role, you will provide occupational therapy services to patients with physical and/or cognitive dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning, and implementation. You will participate in patient care conferences, screenings, and program development; supervise OTAs and aides as assigned; complete required documentation; and adhere to company policies, procedures, and current clinical practice standards.
Your Responsibilities:
Conduct occupational therapy screenings and evaluations to assess patient independence with activities of daily living, including self-care, work, and leisure. Provide occupational therapy treatments in accordance with AOTA professional and ethical standards and develop, implement, and assess treatment plans using adaptations, strengthening, and retraining to maximize independence. Provide direct patient care in accordance with productivity standards, using graded activities to restore physical and functional abilities. Check, instruct, assign, and review the work of OTAs and aides as assigned. Maintain accurate documentation to support medical record quality, continuity of care, and reimbursement guidelines. Participate in patient care conferences, CQI activities, and new program development as requested or required to support continuous quality care. Promote current clinical practice standards through continuing education and in-service programs, including coordinating and/or participating in programs for internal and external groups. Participate in company meetings and additional activities as directed to facilitate effective departmental operations.
Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy program Licensure as required by the
State of Michigan Skills and Abilities:
Initiative and flexibility in the work environment Ability to exercise professional judgment and initiative when analyzing problems and recommending solutions Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and their families Physical ability to bend, position, transfer, and lift patients weighing 80 pounds to over 300 pounds without restriction, utilizing clinically recommended lifting devices
