Description The Occupational Therapist plans, monitors and implements an occupational therapy treatment program for each patient assigned based on the therapist's evaluation and the physician's requests. Additional responsibilities include staff and parent training. Supports Hospital's mission to provide the highest quality care by complying with regulatory guidelines, meeting agency standards, and obtaining appropriate certification.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Evaluate the child's gross motor skills, reflexes, reactions, muscle tone, passive and active range of motion, upper extremity functioning/fine motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive and visual perceptual skills, ADL skills and equipment needs. 2. Check physician's orders to ensure OT services have been requested as appropriate. 3. Based on evaluation and physician's request, develop treatment plan, goals for
child. 4. Order and/or fabricate supplies, equipment and orthotics needed to carry out each child's treatment plan. 5. Conduct occupational therapy treatment sessions as appropriate. 6. Develop monthly progress notes and 180 care plans/reevaluations and discharge summaries. 7. Comply with all infection control and safety guidelines. (i.e. disinfection of toys,
equipment)
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE
Formal education required: Bachelors Degree In Occupational Therapy
Registered Occupational Therapist, licensed In New York State Previous experience required: Two years pediatrics experience, preferred. Bilingual preferred.
Requirements Formal education required:
Registered by the American Occupational Therapy Association or successfully completed the educational requirements of occupational therapy. Licensed in the state as an Occupational Therapist.
Previous experience required:
