SUMMARY:
Upon referral, evaluates patients. Develops and implements rehabilitative treatment programs for the purpose of restoring or improving hand therapy patients' optimal level of function, independence, and quality of life. Fabricates splints as per prescription in a timely fashion or as a walk-in when time allows. Documents and communicates results and recommendations. Participates in multidisciplinary activities. Participates in continuing education programs within as well as outside the hospital. Provides supervision to students during their affiliation. Participates in quality improvement programs and projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a complete initial evaluation on receipt of referral. Develops and implements treatment plan, including appropriate short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals. Involves patient, family, and staff in the implementation of the treatment program. Re-evaluates patient's functional status progressively, to ensure that treatment program goals are appropriate to patient's current needs; advances patient toward maximal performance and functional independence. Adjusts treatment plan and goals accordingly. Maintains complete documentation of patients' evaluations, treatment, progress, and discharge status. Sends required information to appropriate professionals. ctively participates in rehabilitation team efforts to meet patient needs, including, but not limited to, Hand center case rounds, counseling and teaching patients and their families, discussing changes in treatment programs with MD's, coordinating health care plans with other involved health professionals, e.g., PM&R staff, nurses, social workers, prosthetics, and others, and assists in discharge planning as appropriate.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy (required) NYS License in Occupational Therapy (required)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hand Therapy experience preferred Certification in Hand Therapy (preferred) Strong computer and communication skills

  • Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE
$29.98
  • $48.

Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
