Job Description
Category Schools - OT Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity dedicated to making a genuine difference in the lives of students as a contract Occupational Therapist for the upcoming school year. This position offers the chance to provide critical support for children in an educational setting, collaborating with teachers, families, and school staff to help each student reach their greatest potential. As a vital member of the school-based therapy team, you'll work five days per week with a caseload and specific school location to be determined prior to your start date. This full-time contract role is set to begin September 8, 2026, with an open-ended end date—continuing until a permanent internal hire is made.
Qualifications:
Active and valid New York State Occupational Therapist license required Experience working in school settings as an Occupational Therapist (preferred) Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills Demonstrated ability to adapt to varied caseloads and changing student needs Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive environment for diverse learners
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct occupational therapy services and carry out assessments for students in accordance with district guidelines and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Collaborate closely with teachers, other therapists, and support staff to implement effective interventions Document all services provided, student progress, and participate in IEP meetings as needed Adjust therapy strategies based on periodic evaluations and feedback Support students' development of fine motor, sensory, and functional life skills necessary for academic achievement and independence This full-time, school-based contract is ideal for professionals passionate about empowering students.
