Posting Details The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered. This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist? To provide direct patient care as a Restorative Therapy Aide in the Long Term Care Division. Primary duties include assistance of residents with feeding, ambulation, grooming, dressing, and passive/active range of motion to improve their quality of life and maintain their optimal level of functioning. How does it get done? The Restorative aide works under the clinical direction of the physical therapist or Restorative Nurse to assist patients practicing exercises or functional activities. The physical therapy aide organizes, maintains and disinfects therapy equipment after treatment, prepares treatment areas, such as setting up therapy equipment. The physical therapy aide transports patients to and from the therapy clinic and complies with all treatments for assigned residents and notifies the supervisor of any changes that are noted. The restorative aide maintains direct communication with OPRS and all disciplines to improve resident satisfaction. The restorative aide will inventory adaptive equipment and order equipment as needed and as directed by the Director of Nursing. Who are the customers?
