Job Description
OhioHealth is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will support licensed occupational therapists in delivering patient-centered care, implementing treatment plans, and documenting patient progress across inpatient and outpatient settings. You'll assist patients in restoring functional independence through therapeutic activities and education. Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist Guide patients through therapeutic activities, exercises, and use of adaptive equipment Observe and report patient progress and changes in condition to the supervising OTDocument treatments, patient responses, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety, and use of assistive devices Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate and optimize patient care Assist with functional assessments by gathering data and observing performance Promote patient safety and adhere to infection prevention and regulatory standards Support discharge planning by reinforcing therapy recommendations and equipment needs Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives within Ohio Health Required Skills Occupational therapy treatment implementation Knowledge of functional mobility and ADL retraining Therapeutic exercise and activity techniques Safe patient handling and transfer techniques Use and instruction of adaptive and assistive equipment Clinical documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EMR) Understanding of anatomy, kinesiology, and functional performance Basic rehabilitation and neurorehabilitation principles Infection prevention and safety protocols Patient and family education skills Interdisciplinary team collaboration Time management and caseload prioritization
