Job Description

Step into a dynamic school-based environment supporting students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for the upcoming school year. This contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year, serving a diverse K-12 population within a welcoming, collaborative special education setting. The position is full-time, running Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a total of 35 hours per week and a low caseload. Your role will focus on providing direct therapy and support for students' individual needs as determined by IEPs and team collaboration. The caseload and specific grade levels will be finalized closer to the assignment start. New hire orientation will kick off from August 12th to August 14th, ensuring you feel informed and supported from day one.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Active Illinois COTA license (required - must be submitted with application) School-based experience working with K-12 populations is highly valued Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team Passion for facilitating student success in adaptive, academic, and functional skills Commitment to onsite, in-person service delivery
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct occupational therapy interventions to students per their IEPs Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and school staff Assist in developing strategies that promote student participation and independence Document progress, maintain compliance, and contribute to IEP meetings Adapt interventions to meet a range of student abilities and goals If you're an enthusiastic COTA eager to make a positive difference in a school setting, this is your chance to inspire and support students every day.
