We are looking for a dependable, professional, and friendly Optometric Technician & Front Desk team member to join our eye-care office. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide outstanding patient service while assisting the doctor and managing front-desk responsibilities. The ideal candidate must be comfortable speaking with patients, explaining basic eye-health information, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, working with EHR/office software, and assisting with pre-testing and patient flow. Front Desk Responsibilities Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner. Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with questions. Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments. Call patients to confirm upcoming appointments. Contact patients regarding follow-up and yearly eye-health examinations. Explain the importance of yearly eye examinations and encourage patients to keep their appointments. Verify patient demographics, address, telephone number, email, and insurance information. Verify vision and medical insurance eligibility and benefits. Collect examination fees, copays, deductibles, and other patient balances. Accurately enter patient information into the office management/EHR system. Maintain patient records and make sure required information is complete. Keep track of cancellations and immediately work to fill open appointment times. Assist with appointment scheduling during available time. Answer patient questions professionally and direct medical questions to the doctor when appropriate. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements. Assist with referrals, medical records, and communication with other healthcare providers. Assist with eyewear pickup and patient notifications when orders are ready. Optometric Technician Responsibilities Prepare patients for examination by the optometrist. Perform pre-testing according to office procedures and doctor's instructions. Take and document patient history and chief complaint. Obtain and document medications, allergies, and relevant medical information. Perform visual acuity testing. Perform preliminary testing and other technician procedures as trained and authorized. Enter accurate test results into the EHR. Explain testing procedures to patients in a clear and professional manner. Recognize when a patient may need additional attention and immediately notify the doctor. Maintain and clean examination and diagnostic equipment according to office procedures.
Pay:
$16.00 - $19.00 per hour
