REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

High School Graduate/GED One year of experience as customer service in optometry or medical clinic. Medical terminology preferred Able to operate a variety of medical equipment such as autorefractor, tonometer, fundus photography, and lensometer. Ability to multi-task and have high attention to detail. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Prepares patients for vision examination, using a variety of instruments, such as an autorefractor, tonometer, fundus photo camera, and a lensometer. Maintains records, schedules appointments, assist with optometry referrals and files correspondence. Helps in the care and use of eyeglasses including repairs and adjustments. Maintains optometric equipment to include inventory and ordering of all cleaning materials. Maintains open communication with Optometrist. Assists patients with self-pay process verifying insurance eligibility generating claims for billing insurance plans. Other duties as assigned.
