The Ophthalmology Assistant supports both physicians and clinical staff in delivering high‑quality eye care. This role includes direct patient interaction, diagnostic testing ( Visual Fields, Applanation Tonometry, OCT's, Fundus Photos), chart preparation, and assistance with pre‑ and post‑operative care. Because the practice includes a fully equipped ASC, assistants gain exposure to surgical workflows and can advance into technician, scribe, or ASC support roles. Qualifications Prior experience in ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Imedicware is a plus. Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures including eye refraction, tonometry, OCT, Fundus Photos, biometry, and use of ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment. Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology related to the eye and visual system. Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically. Ability to operate medical equipment accurately while maintaining aseptic technique standards. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing, coding practices, and retail sales experience is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information confidentially in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Pediatric experience or working with special populations is considered a plus; familiarity with front desk duties and retail math is beneficial.
Pay:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour
