Responsible for performing an extensive number of data collection functions (specialty fittings; sphere, toric, multi-focal, mono), as delegated by the physician, to allow for proper diagnosis of the patient. Checks for visual acuity. Performs accurate and appropriate evaluations for fitting contact lenses; trains the patient in the contact lens care, trains the patient on how to insert and remove the lenses. Provides technical expertise that instills confidence in the patient. Obtains and records patients' contact lens history, any medications and allergies in EMR system. Resolves issues, concerns or problems during the evaluation of fitting the contact lenses. Add contact lens solutions and other eye products to the patient's eyes. Read and transposes eyeglass prescriptions to contact lenses. Maintain and post sales, payments and deposits of contact lens activity. Maintain product inventory and track supplies of lenses and solutions. Make exchanges and returns and reconcile vendor orders. Performs all aspects of patient work ups, refraction knowledge, special testing (fundus photos, OCTs, Pachymetry, visual fields). Complete work up of patients in a timely manner, including, but not limited to, chief complaint, ocular history, family history and visual testing. Supports all other areas of clinic as needed. Must be a team player and have good communication skills. Provide excellent customer service and enjoy working with people. Must be able to work independently with a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Required Minimum Education:
H.S. Diploma or GED, some College, ABO / NCLE or CPO certification preferred
Required Minimum Experience:
3-5 years previous optometric experience, contact lens fitting experience preferred A combination of experience, education, and/or training which substantially demonstrates the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Analytical with problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Advanced understanding of math aptitude Demonstrated computer literacy in Word and Excel; EMR system Proactive, take initiative, attention to details, a problem solver Positive mind-set and mannerisms (ability to lead, motivate and inspire others) Maintain confidentiality of patients records and physicians' information Effective in managing multiple tasks simultaneously
