Job Description

Expected pay for this position is $18.58-$26.02. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

Medical, Dental, Vision 457B and employer match for FT Employees Company paid STD and LTD Job Summary The Ophthalmic Assistant supports ophthalmologists by performing clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality eye care. This role involves patient preparation, preliminary eye testing, assistance during examinations, and maintaining clinical equipment and records. Acting as facilitators, collecting data and performing procedures that help ophthalmologists make informed decisions. Job Specifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED. Experience in a medical office setting is preferred. One year working in a medical practice is preferred. Ophthalmology and/or optometry experience and medical terminology is preferred. Required to have a current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Must have knowledge of the following: current clinical practices commonly implemented by the Ophthalmologist; medical terminology; Service Organization and office policies and procedures; all technical equipment used; use of personal protective equipment in compliance with DCD and OSHA guidelines; rules and regulations concerning child abuse reporting and guardianship. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.

1. Must have the ability to express thoughts in clear and concise terms, both verbal and written. 2. Must have the ability to adapt and prioritize during high volume periods. 3. Must have the ability and dexterity to operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner. 4. Must be interested in self-motivation and self-improvement. 5. Must be interested in all aspects of providing primary care and / or surgical services. 6. Must be interested in clinical and financial aspects of performance in a medical office setting. 7. Must be able to use tact, courtesy, and diplomacy when dealing with employees, supervisors, doctors, patients, insurance companies, and the general public. 8. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
