In this energetic role, you will support ophthalmologists by performing patient examinations, operating specialized diagnostic equipment, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities Assist with ophthalmic patient examinations, including measuring vital signs, conducting eye refractions, and performing tonometry tests to assess intraocular pressure. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools to gather accurate patient data. Support the clinical team by maintaining strict aseptic techniques and adhering to clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient safety and privacy. Manage electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems), accurately documenting patient information, medical histories, and examination results in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare patients for exams by conducting intake procedures, explaining testing processes clearly, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit. Assist with optical services, including lens measurements and eye refraction procedures, to support comprehensive eye care delivery. Maintain medical records, ensure proper operation of medical equipment, and support front desk activities such as scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information. Requirements Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred; strong background in medical terminology is essential. Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic procedures such as A-scan biometry, tonometry, and ophthalmic imaging equipment is required. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or similar platforms for managing electronic health records efficiently. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to direct patient care; ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye; ability to perform ophthalmic examinations accurately. Ability to operate medical equipment safely and effectively; experience with optical measurements is a plus. Strong organizational skills for managing medical records, billing support, and clinic operations; retail or front desk experience is advantageous.
