Job Description

Overview Starting hourly rate will be determined on level of knowledge and experience We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care within our ophthalmology clinic. This fast-paced position requires a blend of technical skills, patient interaction, and a strong understanding of medical office protocols. The Ophthalmic Technician will assist in various clinical tasks while ensuring compliance with health regulations and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients. Duties Perform preliminary eye examinations, including visual acuity tests and refractive assessments. Instill topical medications as indicated by the physician. Perform accurate and consistent ophthalmic testing as indicated by the physician. Prepare and assist ophthalmologists during office procedures, assuring all necessary instruments are available and sterile. Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations using electronic health record systems. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred, but on the job training provided to the right candidate Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care instructions. Ensure the clinic environment is clean, organized and well stocked for every day use. Collaborate with the medical office team to streamline patient flow and enhance overall clinic efficiency. Excellent communication skills with patients and other medical staff a must. Qualifications Previous experience in an ophthalmic or medical office setting is preferred, but not mandatory. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail. Proficiency in electronic health record systems and computer usage is a plus. Commitment to providing high-quality patient care while adhering to clinic policies and procedures.
