Carolina Eye Associates is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. This position plays an essential role in providing exceptional patient care by assisting physicians with comprehensive eye examinations, diagnostic testing, and clinical procedures. Responsibilities Welcome patients and escort them to examination rooms. Obtain and document patient medical and ocular histories. Measure and record visual acuity and perform preliminary vision testing. Check and document vital signs as needed. Perform diagnostic testing, including but not limited to: Autorefraction Lensometry Tonometry Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Visual Field Testing Fundus Photography Corneal Topography Administer eye drops as directed by the physician. Prepare patients for examinations and in-office procedures. Assist physicians during patient exams and minor procedures. Accurately document findings and maintain electronic medical records (EMR). Clean, disinfect, and maintain exam rooms and ophthalmic equipment. Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations. Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous ophthalmic, optometric, medical assisting, or healthcare experience preferred but not required. COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) certification is a plus but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting. Basic computer and EMR experience preferred. Reliable, professional, and patient-focused.
