Safe work environment Ophthalmic medical technicians/assistants perform a series of diagnostic and other ancillary tests as required by the Ophthalmologist. They do measurements and tests that provide the doctor with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. They also assist with examination documentation and other patient services. They may be required to assist with laser and minor surgical procedures. History taking Visual Acuity Refractometry Tonometry Measure pupil size and reactivity Test and measure eye muscle function Visual field testing Corneal thickness measurement Corneal curvature measurement Corneal topography Retinal nerve fiber layer measurement Retinal thickness and topography Fluorescein angiography A Scan ultrasonography Prepare for and assist with in-office procedures
